Tourism Vancouver Partners with TransLink for a #VancouverComeBack on Transit

Vancouver, BC (August 24, 2020) - As small businesses, attractions, and restaurants re-opened across the city, Tourism Vancouver’s #VancouverComeBack campaign was launched in early June to encourage residents to begin safely re-exploring their communities. Today, Tourism Vancouver announced a partnership with TransLink to get both locals and visitors from across the province hopping on board transit to rediscover the region.

To celebrate the launch of the collaboration, select transit stations, attractions and restaurants will be giving away a limited number of co-branded #VancouverComeBack Travel Safe Packs that will include a mask, hand sanitizer, and transit passes until the end of September. B.C. residents will want to follow @Inside_Vancouver for an Instagram photo-sharing contest to win a getaway in Vancouver!

TransLink has been working hard to create confidence in public transit through their Safe Operating Action Plan. TransLink has increased cleaning protocols, maintained service levels to promote physical distancing, and has put forth a new policy mandating mask use on transit. Starting today, masks are required for all customers on transit vehicles to help keep riders safer while using transit.

More than ever, tourism operators depend on the support of British Columbians. Plan an adventure in the city and take advantage of the special offers and deals for residents featured on the #VancouverComeBack hub.

“Summer is the most important season for many of the small businesses that make up our city’s tourism sector” said Royce Chwin, CEO of Tourism Vancouver. “We are pleased to be working with Translink to responsibly move people around our wonderful city and back to their favourite Vancouver spots.”

“Our Safe Operating Action Plan has been the key to keeping our customers confident in using transit, and today we’re updating that plan to mandate masks for all customers while on transit vehicles,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond. “I know Metro Vancouver residents and businesses are resilient, and I look forward to the transit system being an important part of a strong and safe comeback.”
